Good Morning Gaza

The project “Good Morning Gaza: Echoes of War and Life” aims to produce a series of high-quality short documentary films that document everyday human experiences in Gaza amid war, through the voices of local filmmakers. The project is driven by a professional cinematic vision that places artistic value and cultural documentation at its core, while strengthening professional collaboration between filmmakers in Gaza and external experts. Its goal is to bring Gazan stories to a global audience and to establish cinema as a space for memory and human resilience.

Gaza has experienced consecutive wars that have deeply affected daily life, yet the latest war has surpassed all previous ones in its brutality and scale, targeting people before stones and taking on the character of genocide. Still, amid the rubble, its people continue to create, survive, and tell their own stories.

The Masharawi Foundation, led by acclaimed Palestinian filmmaker Rashid Masharawi, has successfully produced 22 short documentary films under the From Ground Zero initiative, followed by 10 medium-length films under From Ground Zero Plus.

Building on this legacy, Good morning Gaza will continue to document the human stories of Gazans, focusing on resilience, daily life, and the echoes of war. The project is designed as a high-quality professional film initiative, not an aid program, emphasizing artistic merit, cultural documentation, and international visibility.

Despite previous successes, Gaza’s cinema sector remains fragile due to limited access to professional training, scarce production infrastructure, and extreme personal and material challenges for filmmakers.

Good morning, seeks to bridge this gap by sustaining cinematic activity in Gaza and by offering opportunities to talented women and men filmmakers to complete their first film. The project aims to introduce and train a new generation of directors by providing professional and financial support, and by creating international platforms for the screening of their films.

Overall Objective: To strengthen Gaza’s cinema industry while producing 10 films that reflect the human dimension of war and resilience.
